The training provides information on legislation, local policies and procedures and national guidance, and sets out how to recognise, respond, record, and refer safeguarding concerns.\nSession aims:\n\nConsider the importance of safeguarding and child protection for the DSL.\nDevelop a clear understanding of the role of the DSL.\nUnderstand how local and national research, legislation, guidance and knowledge informs best practice for safeguarding children.\nKnow how to recognise and respond to risks which may increase the risk of harm.\nUnderstand the referral process and the DSL role within that.\nUnderstand how to create a culture of safeguarding including safer working practices.\nUnderstand the range of possible signs, symptoms and indicators of abuse and the factors, situations and actions that could lead or contribute to abuse, harm or neglect.\nConsider how diversity, race, culture, belief, and bias should and could be considered.\nUnderstand how to respond, record and effectively refer concerns in a timely and appropriate way internally and externally.\nKnow what actions to take when there are concerns about a colleague.\n\n\n\n    \n\n		\n        \n			        \n     \n
