Access to personal protective equipment (PPE) for unpaid carers

In line with current government guidelines this offer is available until 30 June 2021

Free PPE for COVID-19 is presently available to unpaid carers who do not live with the person or people they care for.

If you live with the person or people you care for, it is not currently recommended that you wear PPE unless advised to do so by a healthcare professional, like a GP or nurse.

If you normally use PPE because of the nature of the care you provide, you should continue to access it through your normal routes.

Packs issued to eligible carers will contain:

  • Sanitiser
  • Masks (IIR2 type)
  • Aprons and gloves (people can select the size of gloves required on the order form).

If you live in Leicestershire you can access the free PPE via this link. (Scroll down to the section Access to Personal protective equipment (PPE) for unpaid carers)

If you live in Leicester City you can access the free PPE by scrolling down to the section on “unpaid carers “ via this link.

Local VCSE organisations supporting informal carers may want to make them aware of this opportunity.
