Volunteer Stories – Jo’s Story

Read how our VAL Volunteering team helped to find the role of an Office Volunteer.

Jo applied for several volunteering roles VAL had advertised on the Volunteering Website and decided to apply for a role of an Office Volunteer at, Peter Le Marchant Trust, based in Loughborough.

Peter Le Marchant Trust is a Leicestershire based charity providing day trips and holidays on the waterways, to a wide range of children and adults who experience health and social issues in their day to day lives.

Jo volunteered at the trust and helped them out mainly with office duties and with general enquiries by answering phone calls when needed.

Thank you again for finding the voluntary position at Peter Le Marchant Trust for me.  I found the place and location lovely.

Although I was not there very long, the staff I met were very helpful and kind. I think the Trust is amazing in the way they provide days and holidays for people of any age with any type of disabilities or serious illness. I helped out in the office, answering calls regarding bookings, payments and other general enquiries.

I thank you for giving me the opportunity to volunteer I have enjoyed this a lot however, I now have to concentrate on job searching, so I have decided not to do any volunteering at the moment, but I hope to continue to do so in the future.
