Leicester and Leicestershire Virtual Volunteering Fair – Thursday 21 Jan 2021

VAL held a virtual event for volunteer involving organisations to promote their volunteering opportunities and for people interested in volunteering to virtually meet organisations to find out how they could get involved as volunteers in Leicester and Leicestershire.

We had a selection of 15 volunteer involving organisations who each gave short, five minute pitches on their volunteering opportunities. There was also an opportunity to speak to VAL staff and volunteers about the wider range of opportunities available.

‘Thank-you for facilitating an excellent session this morning. It was really positive to hear about all the volunteering that’s happening across Leicestershire. It is a priority area for us, and hope that we can get the right people on board to develop a local group to support people affected by diabetes in the area. Any support in promoting these volunteer opportunities would be much appreciated.’

Roy Bustin, Volunteer Coordinator Diabetes UK

“Thank you all for organising the Virtual Volunteering Fair last week – and I just wanted to congratulate you all on a great event. It was a great opportunity to share about the volunteering opportunities which we have, but also very interesting to hear about the other charities/organisations, what services they are managing to offer in these strange times and the additional support that they need too – very inspirational and uplifting take care and keep up the amazing work you are all doing.”
