Volunteer Stories – Oadby & Wigston Volunteer

Read how volunteering has helped them to give something back to their community.

Volunteers’ Week – It’s a chance to say thank you for the contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK and a great way to recognise and thank all our volunteers, for all the amazing things they’re doing to help us make a difference.

Based in Oadby & Wigston, the volunteer enquired about VAL Volunteering during lockdown via our volunteering website..

Before they retired, they worked for the NHS and decided that they wanted to continue to offer their time and energy; and wanted to be able to give something back to their community and so they decided to volunteer as a Vaccination volunteer.

‘VAL do an amazing job – coordinating all the volunteers for various sites on such a quick turnaround is challenging, but have been brilliant!

The opportunity to volunteer has enabled me to continue interacting with people; I have met such a wide range – from young teenagers, to the very old. I have been able to learn about people and their varying needs’.
