Working differently to offer volunteering advice

Due to Covid-19 restrictions and guidelines on social distance, VAL has not been able to provide face to face volunteering advice through drop-in sessions and attendance at events. In addition to virtual meetings and events, VAL has recorded several webinar sessions for partner organisations to use.

De Montfort University PAVE Conference

VAL has previously attended De Montfort University’s PAVE Conference to promote volunteering to their health and life sciences students. This year the conference is being held as a virtual event and VAL has pre-recorded a webinar session for this event. Equally, VAL will be offering virtual appointments to students to provide advice on volunteering opportunities that are currently available and those that will become available again as restrictions are hopefully lifted next year.

Leicestershire Cares

VAL has created two short webinar sessions as an introduction to volunteering for Leicestershire Cares to use with young people they are supporting. These sessions provide an overview of the benefits of volunteering, the range of roles that people can undertake and how to find out more about the opportunities that are currently available.

Training Sessions and Network and Learn Sessions

In response to the changing needs of volunteer involving organisations, VAL created new training sessions on Managing Remote Volunteers and Volunteering and the Law to support organisations to work with volunteers in the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic. Equally, VAL adapted the Volunteering Network and Learn sessions to run as virtual events, whilst restrictions have prevented face to face meetings.
