The prestigious awards ceremony brought together volunteers, staff, community groups, and stakeholders to celebrate the exceptional contributions made across Leicester and Leicestershire over the past year.
The event recognised individuals and organisations who have gone above and beyond to support their communities, embodying the values of dedication, compassion, and service.
From the moment guests arrived, the energy in the room was electric. Everyone came dressed to impress, ready to celebrate the unsung heroes who make our community a better place every single day. There was laughter, there were (happy!) tears, and most importantly – there was inspiration.
Award winners were met with standing ovations, their stories a powerful reminder of the difference one person – or one group – can make. Categories ranged from Volunteer of the Year to Charity of the Year, highlighting a broad spectrum of achievements.
The night was filled with entertainment, moving speeches, and a strong sense of unity. Guests left feeling inspired, energised, and proud to be part of such a vibrant voluntary sector.
Every award presented was a testament to the passion, resilience, and compassion of the people who make VAL what it is. Whether you took home a trophy or cheered from your table, you were part of something truly special.

This year’s event was even more meaningful as it coincides with a major milestone — VAL’s 60th anniversary. For six decades, we’ve championed volunteering, strengthened communities, and supported the incredible individuals and organisations who work tirelessly for the good of others. The VAL Awards 2025 was not only a celebration of this year’s achievements, but a tribute to the legacy we’ve built together.
