On 11 January 2021 the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government updated their Coronavirus (COVID-19): Emergency funding for local government in 2020 to 2021 and additional support in 2021 to 2022 guidance.

This revised guidance includes details of the local council tax support grant.  The government is welcoming views on emerging positions as outlined in their consultative policy paper. The deadline for sending a response is 14 January 2021.  The revised guidance can be found here.

During this period Leicester City Council have published their draft budget and capital programme for 2021-2022.

These reports will be discussed by councillors in January and February, and the final budget and capital programme will be approved by the Council on 17 February 2021

The City Mayor is keen to hear from communities of interest in Leicester regarding the draft Budget. This includes those groups and organisations that make up the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector.

Draft plans for 2021/22 can be found at the bottom of the council’s budget webpage which you can access here.
