Communications Development Officer – GREAT Project

We have an exciting new opportunity for you to join the Getting Ready for Employment and Training (GREAT) Project which has been operating since 2017, to support families move into training and employment across Leicester city and the wider county.

As a project led by Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL), we work in collaboration with several organisations to deliver effective and tailored services to participants.

We are looking to increase the capacity of our team to offer support to more local families who are currently not in employment and who may be facing challenges to access work or training.

Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) is seeking an exceptional individual to join our Communications and Marketing Team, to bring new ideas and skills to support the marketing and communications work stream of The GREAT Project.

As the new Communications Development Officer for the GREAT Project, you will co–lead on developing the communications strategy and interventions to increase participant engagement across the project, working with the current lead who works 21 hours.

An experienced communications professional with excellent copywriting and interpersonal skills, you will have knowledge of effective marketing, event management, PR and media relations, as well as the competency to create engaging digital material to build the projects digital presence.

You will be jointly responsible for managing the content on the project website, developing the GREAT brand, designing digital and print communications to support the project delivery, as well as inspiring family members to be part of the project.

The GREAT Project has targets for engagement and you will be expected to draw on your all-encompassing marketing and communications knowledge to develop specific campaigns and events in support of this. You’ll also share the projects impact through emotive case studies, both written and video.

This role requires a proactive and dynamic approach with the successful candidate who understands the best practices of main social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. S/he must possesses exceptional writing skills and be able to compose engaging and accurate content.

The person must also be a strong communicator who works well independently and with a team. S/he will also have superior time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
