YES Project – Keyworker (2 posts)

Join the YES Project as a Keyworker and help to transform the lives of local young people

Voluntary Action LeicesterShire has an exciting opportunity for you to join the Youth Employability Support (YES) Project which has been operating since 2016, supporting to date 700 young people!

The YES Project is a free service that helps young adults, aged 15-24, that are not in employment, education or training (NEET). The YES Project has been supporting the young people of Leicester and Leicestershire since 2016 and endeavours to help the individuals it supports to find employment or training opportunities, or give them the confidence to search for a role independently. The project is funded by the European Social Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund in a bid to promote social inclusion within the community. https://valonline.org.uk/the-yes-project/

The YES Project is managed and delivered by Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) and is based at their offices in Leicester’s City Centre, the project is a partnership of seven youth organisations and charities which include;

  • Bangladesh Youth & Cultural Shomiti
  • The Bridge – East Midlands
  • Leicestershire Cares

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the YES Project team as a Keyworker based at VAL. We are seeking to appoint two high performing, enthusiastic Keyworkers to empower, engage, build and maintain effective rapport with our participants whilst offering mentoring support to ensure a holistic approach to their progress.

As a Keyworker working across Leicester and Leicestershire, you will support a caseload of participants to reach their goal towards employment, education and/or training, addressing their individual barriers and providing mentoring support along the way. You will use your exceptional planning and organisational skills and ensure that they are given appropriate assistance in accessing the right support from a range of resources and providers, encouraging and guiding them on their journey towards starting and sustaining in work or further education.

Applicants will need to demonstrate experience in supporting individuals to identify and achieve personal goals combined with an established understanding of barriers preventing young people from engaging with support linked to employment, education and/or training.

The role requires a superb communicator with an established track record in providing impactful support and training and experience of working in diverse communities. Proven skills in engaging and motivating individuals (both face to face and remotely) to achieve outcomes and an ability to develop high quality information and resources are also necessary.

You will have a proactive and dynamic approach, excellent technical and organisation skills, a keen eye for detail combined with the ability to process detailed information, manage complex processes, prioritise and multi-task. The project team works with structured processes and to tight timelines and targets, so flexibility and a “can do” attitude are a must.

We continually strive to be more inclusive, more diverse and flexible. We welcome applications from everyone. We particularly encourage applications from Men and Black/Black British candidates from or with lived experiences of Caribbean, African or other background, as these groups are under-represented in some of our teams.

Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) is a sector leading diverse and ambitious organisation, with a vision for growth. You will benefit from a competitive salary, a flexible and supportive working environment, 25 days annual leave, rising with service, plus bank holidays and a 6% employer pension contribution.
