Keep data flowing at the end of the UK’s transition out of the EU

On 3 December the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) delivered a webinar aimed at small and medium organisations.

The webinar discussed the key data protection requirements to consider at the end of the transition period for leaving the EU.

The recorded webinar and the slides from the webinar can be accessed here.

When the transition period ended on 31 December 2020, most of the UK data protection rules affecting small businesses stayed the same.

However if you have contacts or customers in the EEA (the EU plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) , EU rules may apply

Your organisation might need to take a couple of extra steps to make sure you can still get the data you need and comply with EU law.

The ICO has produced an end of transition – interactive tool for small businesses. The tool has a checklist, which when completed enables you to receive a short report showing any risk areas and suggested practical actions to take.

The interactive tool can be accessed here.
