  • The Carers Centre - A wide range of support services for un-paid carers: parents/carers of children with special educational needs/ disabilities and carers of adults

    The Carers Centre provides the following services within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland:

    Helpline support via phone and email available Monday to Friday during office hours (9.30-4.30)

    Training and information sessions – these vary but include things like moving and handling, emergency planning, managing stress and first aid

    Self Advocacy and Support Groups for parents/carers of children with special educational needs/disabilities and carers of adults

    Time For Me (Respite) sessions for all carers including: Games Nights, Carers Cuppa and Crafty Carers

    Health & wellbeing Sessions including: mindfulness, drama, craft, singing, chairobics and more

    Providing generalist advice by telephone and email (benefits, debt, housing, employment, family and relationships, immigration, discrimination, community care. We can also give up-to-date advice for workers on specific issues relating to the COVID-19 outbreak, including the government furlough scheme and self employment)

    Dear Albert offers individual and group based support and therapeutic interventions for individuals experiencing issues with problematic or dependant substance use.

    Our support is freely available to anyone living within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and across the country.

  • East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme

    Service hours: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

    Response to emergencies along with the East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS), e.g. road traffic accidents, heart attacks.  Our volunteers are all registered doctors working within the NHS and highly qualified in emergency treatment.   They respond to 999 calls using their own transport with authorised use of blue lights in their own time and use sophisticated equipment provided by the charity to save lives and ameliorate suffering.

    Medical assistance at the site of road traffic accidents, heart attacks or any other emergency (along with the EMAS)

    Service as usual but reserves fast depleting due to lack of fund raising opportunities in the time of Co-vid.

  • Leicestershire Leicester and Rutland Headway

    Monday to Friday – 9am until 3pm
    We support adults with acquired brain injuries. We are still accepting new referrals and provide information advice and guidance. All those accessing our services were risk assessed using a RAG rating and this is reviewed each week.

  • Macmillan Cancer Support

    Our Telephone Buddies service is available to anyone in the UK who is living with cancer, inclusive of age, disability, gender identity, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, gender, sexual orientation or religion and belief. We want everyone to be able to access this service, so please let us know if there is anything we can do for you to do this.

  • Muscular Dystrophy Support Centre

    The Muscular Dystrophy Support Centre remains open and is providing a limited face-to-face physiotherapy and osteopathy service at our Centre in Coventry for existing service users including those in the Leicestershire area. This is subject to individual risk assessment and Covid-19 screening procedures. Clinic days and hours vary so contact the Centre directly for details.

    The Centre is providing an extensive online therapy service including 1:1 consultations, small group exercise classes, drop-in classes and recorded exercise sessions. Clinic days and hours vary so contact the Centre directly for details.

  • Quetzal - Supporting women recovering from the trauma of childhood sexual abuse

    Call us on 0333 101 4280 or 07436 530605 from Monday to Friday between 9-5pm.
    Quetzal provides long-term counselling, crisis counselling and a telephone helpline to support women, aged 16 and over, who are recovering from the trauma of childhood sexual abuse.

    TOTAL INSIGHT THEATRE IS AN AWARD-WINNING ARTS CHARITY THAT USES THE ARTS TO TRANSFORM THE LIVES OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE.

    Arts and cultural opportunities offer more than just entertainment. We use the arts to tackle important social issues, improving the mental health of children and young people and ensuring they have access to creative programmes which help them develop lifelong skills.

    Set 10-week terms for online creative hub Bookings for anti-knife crime film & accompanying workshop Types pf service: We are providing a virtual creative hub for young people in Leicestershire aged 14-16, providing creative relief and coping mechanisms to help process the impact of COVID-19 through weekly support sessions.

    We are also delivering our anti-knife crime film (20mins) telling the real stories of people who have experienced knife crime, anger issues and peer pressure alongside our accompanying workshop (30mins) for schools, pupil referral units and youth centres.
