What is Trustees’ Week?
Trustees’ Week is organised by the National Governance Association and other sector bodies to thank and celebrate trustees. It’s a chance to raise awareness of the crucial role trustees play in shaping strategy, ensuring compliance, and supporting organisations to achieve their missions.
Trustees are the backbone of the voluntary sector. They make strategic decisions, manage risks, safeguard resources, and act as ambassadors for their organisations. Their guidance helps charities remain sustainable, accountable, and focused on the communities they serve.
Without trustees, many charities simply couldn’t operate. From overseeing finances to championing inclusivity and innovation, trustees ensure that organisations thrive and adapt in a changing world.
Getting Involved
Whether you’re a trustee, staff member, volunteer, or supporter, Trustees’ Week is a moment to reflect on the difference trustees make. It’s also a chance for individuals to explore how they can use their skills and expertise to make a real difference by joining a board.
Trustees’ Week isn’t just about saying thank you, it’s about recognising leadership, commitment, and vision. Trustees provide the guidance and stability that allows charities to focus on their missions, grow stronger, and create meaningful change in our communities.
