Case Study – Shopmobility

Shopmobility Melton Mowbray supports those who are most vulnerable within the community helping them to live more independently.

By providing the loan of equipment to members with mobility issues they will be able to exercise control over aspects of their lives such as shopping, visits to the doctors, banking etc. Being able to do these small tasks independently will improve their mental health and well-being along with improving the quality of life for local people. Hires are usually for a day, but can be for longer to enjoy a holiday for instance.

Glyn Birch says:

‘We had no response to advertising at our portacabin so I took up the offer of using the VAL site hoping that it would be more successful.

We had one expression of interest and as it turned out, it could not have worked out better. The gentleman had an interest in cars, was quite practical and his partner used a mobility scooter, so he made a great impact from day 1.

Apart from helping to keep the scooters on the road, he also covers for me when I am not available on our days of opening and that means that our customers are not inconvenienced by my absences. Thank you to VAL for all your help.
