Hospital Volunteer

Zaheera's story about volunteering as a Meet and Greet volunteer at the Leicester Royal Infirmiary.

Zaheera, who lives in Oadby & Wigson area, applied via our VAL Volunteering Website to be a Meet and Greet volunteer to assist patients and visitors to the Outpatient Department at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Meet and Greet Volunteers support patients and visitors in finding their way around the hospital site. They offer practical assistance in various tasks like; giving directions or accompanying patients and visitors to their destination and transporting patients to and from outpatient appointments by wheelchair to giving general information about the hospital. Becoming a Meet & Greet volunteer is a great way to give something back to the hospital whilst helping 1000s of people a year.

Zaheera commented:

“I have been volunteering for over three months at the hospital and it has been great. I felt I was welcomed and settled in quickly, so thank you to VAL for promoting this role online.”
