Volunteer stories – Alison

This case study highlights the rewarding experience Alison, has had at VASL, offering companionship and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

In celebration of Volunteers Day, we’ve invited some of our dedicated volunteers to share their personal experiences and insights about volunteering.

We hope that by hearing from them, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the impact volunteering has, not just on the community, but on the volunteers themselves.

Alison Ullman – Community Champions Befriending Volunteer for VASL

I have had the pleasure and privilege of being a VASL Volunteer since 2016. Throughout this time I have found the role so very rewarding – offering companionship to a number of lovely ladies (and meeting their family members on a number of occasions, all of whom are so appreciative of the difference VASL has made to their mothers).  It is so very satisfying to continue to be part of the VASL Group – it gives me such a sense of purpose to help others.

VASL are as supportive to their volunteers as to their clients – there have been occasions when their support to me over some difficult issues as a volunteer have been so very helpful and reassuring.

Their knowledge of potential clients is reflected in their choice of potential volunteers. There are both social and informing occasions organised by the VASL team which are so appreciated by all attendees.
