Anna heard about youth volunteering through her university (Univeristy of Leicester) via the student support in her second year who told her to look online and sign up to volunteering on our VAL website.
I was interested in making a difference and supporting those younger individual’s who try to gain volunteer experience in different areas which they may find interesting – for example supporting LGBTQ.
I decided to start volunteering to build connections and work as a team with other young members around Leicester to gain additional experience into the field I was interested in.
Anna’s experience with volunteering in the youth panel has allowed her to combat the barriers she had in the past and helped her to open doors into new experiences creating new contacts which has improved her self confidence, motivation and aspirations.
I have had such a interesting and amazing experience working as a part of this youth panel. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity as it has helped me to build connections with others, and has led me onto other amazing opportunities, so this great group allowed me to gain experience into my future work.
I have a chance to build on this experience and work alongside extraordinary young people which I will always be amazed by, this has motivated me into working with other charities and other teams to make a difference among the community. Thank you!
Here is another quote from another member Fraser, from the Volunteering Youth panel:
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and dedication towards me during the last few months. I have come on a long way and learnt more about myself and am willing to take up many of the opportunities that you have suggested which will open many doors to many exciting adventures – Thank you again!
