In 2019 we set ourselves a huge challenge – we had just two months to set up an awards night to celebrate charities and exceptional individuals across Leicester and Leicestershire. We prepared to launch the 2020 awards only to be thwarted by the COVID-19 pandemic and society locking down. In this time of uncertainty, it was vital that VAL was able to help and support the most vulnerable, so we decided to postpone the awards.
Over the past two years, we have had to adapt to new ways of working and accept the challenges this brings. Due to the exceptional operating circumstances many of our local voluntary sector have faced alongside their service users and communities, VAL feels it is critical to honour the selfless work and dedication to others. With the help from our sponsors and our headline sponsor, this was indeed a night to remember and celebrate all the amazing people and groups that support our local communities.

The awards, which have been created by Voluntary Action LeicesterShire, will celebrate the ‘real world heroes of the pandemic’ in Leicestershire and Rutland, taking place on Friday 16th September.

The annual VAL Awards 2022 acknowledged and celebrated the ‘real heroes of the Pandemic’, an inspiring evening in Leicester.
