Volunteer stories – Jayne

One volunteer shares how being a Befriender has helped them make a positive impact on others while also growing personally.

In celebration of Volunteers Day, we’ve invited some of our dedicated volunteers to share their personal experiences and insights about volunteering.

We hope that by hearing from them, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the impact volunteering has, not just on the community, but on the volunteers themselves.

Jayne Hitchings – Befriender

Volunteering as a Befriender allows me to make a positive difference in a person’s life by providing Companionship and Support over the Telephone, while also enriching my own personal growth and sense of community connection.

Volunteering has given me the valuable Skills while enhancing my passion for helping other people, it has deeply enhanced my life by providing me with new skills so that I can pass on my experiences and improve my own personal growth and a greater sense of why volunteering is so important to people out in the community who need our help.

Volunteering is an incredible opportunity for anyone who wants to give back and learn new Skills and connect with some amazing people, also to learn how to make a positive impact on someone by changing their life for the better.
