Extended opening hours when non-essential retail returns

On 26 March 2021 the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government and The Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP published a press release explaining that when non-essential retail reopens from 12 April 201, at the earliest, shops will have the flexibility to open until 10pm Monday to Saturday.

The government is also extending flexible working hours on construction sites, allowing food deliveries to supermarkets over more time periods, and keeping the flexibility for pubs and restaurants to erect marquees to help increase seating capacity in a Covid-secure way.

As charity retail shops prepare to re-open, you may find the Charity Retail Association guest blog by Acceptcards of interest.

The blog titled “ Charity retail and the cashless society” explains that Charities need to adapt if they want to compete and drive sales, with accepting card payments online being one of the key ways to do this. They state they are experts in finding the right card payment solution for charities and businesses of all sizes. They are able to highlight the main ways to accept online card payments and offer support in doing so. Further details are explained in the blog, which can be accessed here: https://www.charityretail.org.uk/charity-retail-and-the-cashless-society/
