Notes on Neighbourhood Planning Spring 2021

On 10 May 2021 the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government published their Spring 2021 bulleting about the latest neighbourhood planning news and policy developments.

Edition 26 includes a Technical Support Package and Grant for High Street Regeneration or Social Infrastructure. The article explains that a new dedicated technical support package and grant is available to neighbourhood planning groups seeking to realise ambitious high street regeneration or social/community infrastructure proposals.

This offer will provide support to communities who want to redevelop buildings or sites for social or economic uses in town and village centres.

The aim is to foster tangible high street regeneration or provide useful social infrastructure that offers demonstrable benefit to the community – in recognition particularly of the impact that Covid-19 and wider recent economic trends have had on the vitality of high streets and town/village centres.

Supported schemes will be those that can be delivered in the short to medium term, with or without the need for planning permission.
