Recruiting 2nd cohort of organisations for Climate Action Plan

The 2nd cohort deadline is 12 July 2021. The project is running from June to August 2021

Previously we reported how Leicester City Council is committed to working towards Leicester being a carbon neutral city and through its Climate Emergency strategy.

De Montfort University (DMU) is working with the Council to develop a new toolkit for community organisations to help their staff, members and volunteers understand how they can play their part and to get involved. The previous article can be accessed here.

DMU is looking to work with people from 10 organisations in the city to offer tailored advice and support, so that participating organisations can understand their current carbon footprint and to develop ideas towards a carbon neutral action plan.

Participants will  be invited to help shape the toolkit for use by other organisations across the city which will be a standalone resource offering ideas and a framework for making a climate action plan.

Participants and their organisations need to be :

  • Voluntary sector organisations based in Leicester (e.g. community centres, charities, co-operatives, sports clubs, religious centres
  • Own, lease or manage a building in the city
  • Can commit to an initial meeting and sharing relevant data with the project team to help develop ideas towards your Action Plan
  • Can commit to sending a member to an online focus group to share their experience and to help improve the action plan toolkit

To express interest in getting involved, fill out the online form here.
