Employment Hub County
Leicester Employment Hub is a business support project for employers in Leicester, run by Leicester City Council.
Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) has a small project team dedicated to bridging the gap between local employers and local people seeking meaningful employment opportunities in North West Leicestershire and Hinckley & Bosworth.Our mission is to foster connections with business networks and communities, create opportunities, and facilitate growth by matching talented individuals with valued organisations.
Meet the Team
Collette Bird – Business Engagement Project Officer
Collette Bird is our Business Engagement Project Officer, working with employers in North West Leicestershire and Hinckley & Bosworth to understand their recruitment needs and explore ways for them to become more inclusive and promote the benefits of their employment offers:
- Impartial recruitment support
- Advertising jobs
- Exploring apprenticeships
- Support with screening and shortlisting candidates
- Access to funding
- Improving diversity and inclusion in your workforce
- Identifying and promoting your Employer Value Proposition
Over the last few months, Collette has been working with employers in the following sectors:
- Hospitality
- Customer Service
- Fire Service
Phil Pearson – Applicant Engagement Support Officer
Phil Pearson is our Applicant Engagement Support Officer, looking to identify job seekers in North West Leicestershire and Hinckley & Bosworth to ensure they are ready to apply for roles and go through recruitment processes and then match them to employers and job roles in the area:
- Preparing and Reviewing CVs
- Interview Preparation
- Matching to potential employers and job roles
- Identifying volunteering to build experience
- Referring to other services for additional support
Over the last few months, Phil has been working with job seekers with interests in the following sectors:
- Retail
- Care roles and social care
- Apprenticeships
Looking Ahead
We will continue to engage both employers and job seekers in both North West Leicestershire and Hinckley & Bosworth, identifying barriers and looking for solutions and opportunities to support economic growth and help both businesses and individuals to achieve their goals and realise their potential. We also recognise that these communities each have different needs and will require us to adapt our approaches.
We will also be organising some Job Fairs in these target areas later this year. We are currently working with partners to plan these events, but if you would like to get involved in some way then we would like to hear from you.
