Volunteering – Ann’s Story

Read Ann's story of how volunteering has helped to build her confidence.

Ann applied for a role as a Warehouse Assistant with FareShare Leicester via the VAL Volunteering website.

FareShare Leicester is a charity committed to fighting food hunger and tackling food waste throughout the East Midlands region. They needed Warehouse Volunteers based at their South Wigston Regional Centre to help them continue feeding thousands of vulnerable people in the East Midlands.

Ann has been volunteering there for over a month now and, she is really enjoying it. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.

This experience has helped her learn new skills and gain confidence in herself, with the addition of doing some WEA courses and getting a new place to live, she feels she has been given a new lease of life and things are looking positive.

‘Volunteering has helped me build my confidence up again from losing all my confidence. Thank you for all your help ‘
