Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) is a charity dedicated to helping people and communities across Leicester and Leicestershire thrive. Originally formed as the Leicester Council for Social Services in 1965, our work has continually evolved with the times while always keeping local people at its heart.
For over 60 years, we have supported the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector while helping individuals develop skills, confidence, and opportunities to improve their lives. We provide advice, training, and practical support to charities, community groups, and volunteers, helping them deliver vital services within their communities.
Through our projects and partnerships, we also support people with employability, volunteering, skills development, and wellbeing. By connecting organisations, volunteers, and local communities, VAL plays an important role in strengthening the voluntary sector and creating positive change across Leicester and Leicestershire.

VAL provides advice, support and training to charities and community groups across Leicestershire.
With around 2,400 registered charities and an estimated 3,800 grassroots community organisations across the city and county, we help charities to reach their potential and continue delivering vital services within local communities.
For over 25 years the VALUES project has provided people with learning disabilities in Leicester and Leicestershire the opportunity to learn new skills, make friends and have fun.
VALUES clients are able to choose from a huge range of activities. The service currently supports has over 130 clients.
Our dedicated support workers are available throughout the day to provide assistance, guidance, and just a touch of fun.
Healthwatch Leicester and Healthwatch Leicestershire (HWLL) is your local health and social care champion.
From Belgrave to Belvoir and everywhere in between, we make sure NHS leaders and other decision makers hear your voice and use your feedback to improve care. We want to work with all communities and people across the statutory, community and voluntary sectors.
