Future of Volunteering

Overview

Join us for an engaging workshop to explore the future of volunteering and what it means for organisations today.

Volunteer-involving organisations are facing a changing landscape.

Many groups are finding it harder to recruit and retain volunteers, while volunteer expectations are evolving. At the same time, new approaches such as flexible volunteering, micro-volunteering, online volunteering and strengths-based engagement are creating new opportunities for organisations willing to adapt.

Join us for an engaging workshop with Gethyn Williams (website+GW), an independent consultant, researcher and experienced voice within the volunteering sector, as he explores the future of volunteering and what it means for organisations today.

During this interactive session, we’ll explore:

  • Current volunteering trends and research from across England
  • How volunteering has changed since Covid-19
  • Emerging volunteer expectations and motivations
  • New approaches to volunteer recruitment and retention
  • Flexible and informal volunteering models
  • Practical ideas for modernising volunteer programmes
  • What these trends mean for organisations in Leicester and Leicestershhire

This session is suitable for:

  • Charities
  • Community groups
  • CICs
  • Volunteer managers and coordinators
  • Trustees and project leads
  • Anyone who involves volunteers in their organisation

Help Shape a Local Volunteering Network

We’re also interested in exploring whether organisations in Leicester and Leicestershire would benefit from meeting regularly to discuss volunteering.

As part of the session, we’ll invite participants to share their views on:

  • The challenges they’re facing
  • Support they would find useful
  • Opportunities for collaboration
  • Whether there is appetite for a local network focused on volunteering practice

The aim is to start a conversation about how volunteer-involving organisations can learn from one another, share good practice and collectively respond to future challenges.

Come along, share your experiences, and help shape the future of volunteering in Leicester and Leicestershire!
