Volunteer Stories – Theresa

Read Theresa's story of how she turned to the VAL Volunteering Website to find the perfect opportunity.

Theresa came to VAL looking to give back to her local community through volunteering. She explored the VAL Volunteering Website to find opportunities that matched her interests and decided to apply for the Witness Service Volunteer role. After submitting her application, Theresa was successful and began the process of getting involved with the organisation.

Theresa is now in the middle of the induction and training process for her new role. She shared that she has already completed an online induction meeting and is working through the online training materials. She is also looking forward to her upcoming in-person induction, which includes a tour of the magistrate’s court, scheduled for later this month.

Despite not having fully started her volunteer role yet, Theresa expressed her satisfaction with the experience so far, saying,

“I have put ‘very happy in role’ even though I haven’t started properly yet because I am pleased to have been successful, and all contact with the organisation so far has been excellent.”
